User Experience Research on Jawbone’s UP App

12 Feb

This will be a work-in-progress piece. Currently recruiting research participants! 1 hr face-to-face time with me talking about your experience with Jawbone and I will compensate you! Email me at contact@wangyunyi.com

Lately I’m working on a project for my UX Design Course. We were ask to pick a topic ourselves, and I chose to research user experience and potentially redesign Jawbone’s UP iOS app. Jawbone is a consumer technology and wearable device company, and Jawbone UP24 is a wearable tracking device that Jawbone released in 2014.

Discovery Analysis

1.Problem Statement

Since the tracker itself does not have a screen, users have to rely on the mobile app to see data collected from the tracker they wear. Based on my personal experience and Apple Store app reviews, I have come up with a few assumptions on the problem statement, but I won’t list here since I am still in the process of doing user research at this moment.

2. Business Goals

  • Encourage user to stay active, lose weight and sleep more
  • Educate users about health wellbeing
  • Help users utilize Jawbone products and continue using them
  • Collect user health and lifestyle data
  • Promote in-app purchase
